Free HPV vaccination drive begins at RIMS today

Imphal, April 26 2026:
The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, has announced a significant public health initiative offering free Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccinations starting tomorrow, April 27, 2026.The campaign is part of the National HPV Vaccination Campaign under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
It specifically targets 14-year-old girls to provide early protection against cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases.
RIMS officials said the vaccine is voluntary but strongly advised as a preventive health measure.
Parental or guardian consent is required for minors.
The vaccine protects against HPV types most commonly linked to cervical cancer.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to visit the Paediatric Immunization OPD during regular OPD hours to take advantage of this Government-funded health initiative.
