Moses Chalai becomes first from Manipur to receive I0D Distinguished Fellow Award

K Moses Chalai, IAS, Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises under the Ministry of Finance, has been conferred the prestigious Institute of Directors (IOD) Distinguished Fellow Award 2026, becoming the first recipient from Manipur and one of the few from Northeast India to receive the honour.
Chalai, a native of Senapati district and a 1990-batch IAS officer of the Manipur cadre, was among three eminent leaders recognised at the award ceremony held on August 22 during the Annual Directors' Conclave and 36th IOD Annual Day at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi.
The other recipients were G M Rao, Group Chairman of GMR Group, and Praveen Pardeshi.
IAS, Chief Economic Advisor to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and CEO of MITRA.
Chalai was recognised for his leadership in public governance and administration, particularly for his contributions while serving in the Ministry of Finance.
He is a former Secretary of the North Eastern Council (NEC) and has held several key administrative positions during his distinguished career.
The IOD Distinguished Fellow Award is an honorary recognition conferred on eminent corporate leaders, policymakers and public servants for outstanding contributions to business, public affairs, governance and sustainable societal value creation.
The fellowship carries lifetime membership and special standing within the IOD global boardroom community.
