Imphal, July 25 2024:
After the appointment section of the Prime Minister"s Office responded to a request for an appointment with PM Modi submitted by BJP MLAs asking them to meet union home minister Amit Shah recently, another request made by 17 BJP MLAs was again reportedly turned down by the PMO on Wednesday advising them to meet Amit Shah instead.
As Prime Minister is not interested in sitting for a meeting, hope is waning for the BJP MLAs to get an opportunity to meet PM Modi.
According to a source, the response was sent to Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Th Satyabrata by email from the PMO"s appointment section.
In the email, the PMO reportedly informed the speaker and BJP MLAs, about PM Modi"s advice to meet Amit Shah instead.
On the other hand, chief min ister N Biren, while attending a distribution function of benefits for different schemes by Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers" Welfare Board, held at the CM"s Bungalow on Thursday, told media persons that he will bring up the issues of the state at the Chief Ministers" Conclave and NITI Aayog"s conference, which will be attended by the Prime Minister, and press for resolute measures to address the crisis in the state.
The crisis that began from May 3 last year is nearing completion of 15 months.
More than 60,000 people have been displaced, over 220 have died and thousands of properties have been damaged in the crisis.
The BJP MLAs sought appointment with the Prime Minister with the hope of restoring peace and normalcy in the state by seeking his intervention to resolve the crisis only for their requests to be declined twice.
