Imphal, June 25 2025:
The Hmar Inpui has refuted the report which claims that Hmar Tiangval supports the call to delist Any Kuki Tribes (AKT) from the Scheduled Tribe list, labelling it as a misleading propaganda aimed at polarizing public opinion.
In a press release, the Organisation stated that Hmar Tiangval was allegedly floated by an individual with political interests who is not from the Hmar community.
It expressed concern over the alleged wave of misleading propaganda attempting to drag the Hmar community into localised narratives, stating that disinformation and the misuse of social media dangerously polarize public opinion and fuel extremist sentiments.
The Hmar Inpui added that they would never endorse the agenda of one community at the expense of others, nor would they allow their community's name to be misused.
It appealed to individuals and groups behind the 'misleading' WhatsApp campaign using the name of the Hmar community to refrain from exploiting the Hmar name.
