KVK Senapati promotes groundnut farming

Senapati, July 23 2025:
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) -Senapati, Manipur organized a two-day training programme on "Scientific Cultivation Practices of Groundnut" at Namching village under Kangpokpi District from July 19 to 21, 2025.The training programme was sponsored by the ICAR-Indian Institute of Groundnut Research, Junagadh, Gujarat, with the aim of promoting groundnut cultivation in the North Eastern region of India.
Over 30 farmers from Namching and nearby villages participated in the event, which also featured the distribution of agri-inputs based on individual needs.
Resource persons for the programme included Dr N Jyotsna (Senior Scientist and Head), Dr David Kamei (SMS, Plant Protection), Dr T Ratan Singh (SMS, Plant Breeding & Genetics), Kh Nodiyachand Singh (SMS, Horticulture), and MK Homen (Farm Manager).
They delivered comprehensive lectures covering improved cultivation practices, pest and disease management, varietal selection, and value addition opportunities in groundnut farming.
On the concluding day, a field visit and practical demonstration were conducted at ICAR-Manipur Centre and KVK-Imphal West.
Participants were oriented to improved groundnut cultivation technologies by the technical staff of KVK-Imphal West.
