Imphal, February 23 2025:
A meeting of BJP state legislators has been called on Monday to discuss prevailing political situation in the state in the wake of resignation of chief minister N Biren and subsequent imposition of President's Rule.
A notice signed by meeting conveners - Lamlai MLA Kh Ibomcha and Mayang Imphal MLA K Robindro said that the meeting will be held at the residence of Patsoi MLA Sapam Kunjakeswor (Keba) at Tera Sapam Leirak from 2pm Monday.
The meeting will deliberate on current political situation subsequent to resignation of chief minister N Biren on February 9 and other miscellaneous agenda, if any.
It is learnt that the meeting is being organised by the BJP legislators after BJP state president A Sharda made no such arrangement despite request by some party MLAs recently.
BJP legislators were compelled to convene the crucial meeting in view of the prevailing situation in the state and the growing public demand for revocation of the President's Rule and reinstatement of popular government, a source informed adding that majority of BJP MLAs are likely to attend the meeting.
Notably, BJP won 32 seats in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election but currently commands 37 members with the merger of five JDU MLAs.
However, five BJP MLAs belonging to Kuki-Zo communities will not attend the meeting on Monday.
