Two held with 624 gm gold at airport

Imphal, October 22 2024:
wo persons identified as Lourembam Ramananda Mangang (26), son of Shyamkishor Mangang of Iroisemba Lourembam Leikai, and Kshetrimayum Gulson (30), son of Shyambabu Meitei of Iroisemba Maning Leikai have been arrested along with 624 grams of gold from Imphal airport on Monday around 1.30 pm.
Ramananda and Gulson, both scheduled to travel to Guwahati on Indigo Flight no 6E-6342, were detained by CISF personnel at the Airport for examination due to suspicion on contents of their hand baggage.
When screened under the x-ray inspection system and subsequent checking, two gold chains weighing 194.51 grams and another weighing 118.4 grams were found in the baggage belonging to Ramananda, while two gold chains weighing 194.10 grams and one weighing 116.5 were seized from Kshetrimayum Gulson.
The duo, along with the seized items, has been handed over to Imphal Airport Customs Division for necessary actions.
The seized gold chains are estimated to worth Rs 44 lakh in the local market.
According to reports, based on specific inputs, teams of CISF and Airport Customs Division monitored movement of two individuals who were about to board the Indigo flight to Guwahati.
