133 stranded trucks including fuel tankers reach Imphal

Imphal, August 21 2024:
A total of 133 loaded trucks including fuel tankers stranded along NH-37 road for past few days owing to landslides caused by incessant rain and indefinite bandh reached Imphal on Wednesday.
Among the trucks which reached Imphal on Wednesday include 30 tankers carrying diesel, 45 tankers carrying petrol, two mixed tankers, four tankers loaded with ATF, 22 bullet tankers, nine cement loaded trucks, nine fertilizers loaded trucks, six trucks loaded with other goods and four empty trucks.
Nevertheless, 65 trucks including 18 fuel tankers and 23 bullet tankers are still stranded in Jiribam.
Meanwhile, an IOCL official informed The People's Chronicle that adequate fuel will be provided to fuel outlets from Thursday onwards to solve the problem of long queue outside fuel pumps and people need not worry of petroleum products.
The official said that retail outlets could not procure their stock from depot after Friday due to holidays on Saturday and Sunday thereby creating panic among people of fuel shortage.
Following apprehension of fuel shortage, people started panic buying and accordingly most of the retail outlets dried up their stocks within short time.
In view of the inconvenience faced by public, adequate fuel will be supplied to retail outlets from Thursday onwards and people need not worry of fuel shortage, the official said and appealed to public not to panic.
