Imphal, January 21 2026: Renowned writer Yengkhom Bihari has been honoured with the prestigious "Kshetrimayum Yaima & Thambal Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award 2026" .

The biannual award given by Kshetrimayum Yaima Memorial Trust (KYMT) carries a cash prize of Rs 20,000, citation, memento and a shawl.

The award was presented today during the 3rd Foundation Day celebration of KYTM held at the DOSUYALI Hall in Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai, Imphal.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Wangkhei AC MLA Thangjam Arunkumar, emphasized the importance of writers in society, saying, "Writers who write valuable books that benefit the public and society are the image of God".

He also highlighted the role of writers in preserving the region's identity, traditions, language, script, and history through their literary works.

Rakesh Naorem, secretary of KYTM was also present at the event.
