Imphal, June 20 2024:
Millennium School Parents' Welfare Association has expressed deep concern & dissatisfaction over the unreasonable hike in tuition and examination fees of Millennium School, Patsoi Part-IV and warned of closing down the school for some time until the matter is resolved.
Speaking to media persons today in front of the school, Mutum Tarchand Singh, member of the association, said that the school authority's decision to increase the tuition and examination fees has added to the suffering of the parents & guardians who are already facing a lot of hardship due to the prolonged conflict which has been going on for more than one year.
He appealed to all the parents & guardians to not pay the tuition and admission fees until an understanding has been reached in this regard.
He also lamented that the school authority has remained silent and ignores the pleas of the parents despite repeated appeals by the association to convene a meeting to discuss the unreasonable increase of fees.
"Subsequently, a meeting participated by parents and guardians of students studying in the school was conducted and a number of resolutions were taken", he added.
Tarchand continued that the meeting unanimously resolved to oppose unreasonable hike of annual examination fee and tuition fee; no late fine for tuition fee; and development of proper infrastructure required for extracurricular activities such as yoga class, dance, singing, music, etc.
"It was also decided that the school authority/management should include the Parent's Body or guardians before taking any decision for the welfare of the students", he added.
