MLA Kayisii given state honour, half-holiday today

Tadubi MLA N Kayisii was given state honour as the government announced half-holiday on Monday in honour of the late politician, who succumbed to prolonged illness on Saturday.
N Kayisii was also given befitting tribute in a condolence ceremony held at his Lamphelpat quarters on Sunday attended by ministers, MLAs and NPP leaders and functionaries.
A contingent of Manipur Rifles also gave guard of honour and gun salute to the deceased politician at the ceremony.
Power minister Th Biswajit Singh, works minister Govindas Konthoujam, water resources minister Awangbow Newmai, MLAs Kh Loken, Thongam Shanti, I Nalini, Sheikh Noorul Hassan, O Ibobi Singh, K Ranjit, O Surjakumar, Th Arunkumar and Abdul Nassir attended the ceremony.
NPP national vice president Y Joykumar, NPP functionaries and leaders and leaders of many civil society organisations also attended the ceremony.
Till his last breath, N Kayisii was president of the state unit of NPP.
An NPP delegation led by Y Joykumar took part in the ceremony and handed over financial assistance from the party to Kayisii's family.
Power Th Biswajit told media persons on the sidelines of the solemn ceremony that the untimely demise of N Kayisii is a huge loss for the state as he was a man of integrity and wanted to serve people.
On the other-hand, O Ibobi re membered N Kayisii as a leader who followed his own principle strictly and worked for a united Manipur while Joykumar pointed out that Kayisii strived for strengthening the NPP as president of party's state unit and he never criticised other political parties for self or party's benefit.
The Manipur government declared a half-holiday on Monday as a mark of respect for legislator N Kayisii, who passed away after a prolonged illness, a statement said.
Kayisii, the MLA of Tadubi in Senapati district, died on Saturday at 58 .
"The governor of Manipur is pleased to declare half holiday on 20th January 2025 from 1 pm for all offices and educational institutions under the government of Manipur as a mark of respect to (Late) N Kayisii," the statement said.
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla also condoled the death of Kayisii.
