Imphal, July 18 2014 : Out of the 155 CCTV cameras installed in Imphal Municipal areas, 133 are not working; Home Minister Gaikhangam informed the State assembly during question hour today, and assured that government will initiate steps to repair the non-functioning CCTV cameras.

Replying to a question from MLA Kh.

Joykishan on how many CCTV cameras are installed in Imphal Municipal area, Gaikhangam said a total of 155 cameras have been erected, but only 42 are working properly as 113 are out of order.

Observing that CCTV cameras are highly essential to control crimes, Home Minister assured the House that steps would be initiated to install such cameras at public places in other places of the state as well and the already installed ones which are not working would be repaired.

Chief Minister O.Ibobi, in reply to a question raised by MLA Th.Shyamkumar, stated that out of the 13 works taken up in Moreh town under the Border Area Development Fund under the award of 13th Finance Commission, 6 have been completed.

In respect of 3 works, material procurement has started and 4 other works are yet to begin, the Chief Minister informed and added that these works are being implemented by Planning Department with Manipur Development Society (MDS) as work agency.

Works include road repairing, construction of retaining wall and drains, the Chief Minister explained.

In reply to a question raised by MLA Y.Erabot, Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution M.Okendro said rice bags were ferried from Sangaiprou Godown on the night of June 5 last in the presence of Thoubal DSO, Godown Superintendent, Assistant Director, Store Keeper and other staffs of the Godown and agents of Fair Price Shop.

Okendro clarified that due to delay in rice loading, it was done at night, and went on to sy that there was no bad intention in executing the work at night.

The rice bags reached the Fair Price shops properly, he said, adding that a total of 1082 quintals of rice which was meant for allocation to Fair Price Shops were transported by using 21 trucks.

Replying to the query from MLA I.Ibohalbi, Industried Minister Govindas Konthoujam said though the Manipur Industrial Development Corporation (MANIDCO) provided loans from 1986-87 to 1991-92, it has not been able to give further loans since 1992-93 as the loanees failed to repay the loan amount.

MANIDCO had provided loans amounting to Rs.0.82 crore to Manipur Pulp and Allied Products Ltd.

(MPAPL) and Rs.0.90 crore to Manipur State Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

(MSDPL) respectively, the Minister informed, and added that the MPAPL has so far repaid a sum of Rs.8,085 while the MSDPL repaid Rs.8,000/- to MANIDCO.

In reply to MLA Shyamkumar's question, Minister M.Okendro informed the House that sugar and wheat are provided as PDS items in the State.
