Historic women's recruitment rally held for Territorial Army in Manipur

Imphal, November 17 2025: For the first time in the history of the Territorial Army, a recruitment rally exclusively for women was conducted in Noney, Manipur on Monday, marking a significant step toward women's empowerment in defence services.

A total of 93 women candidates from Noney, Jiribam, Kangpokpi, Tamenglong and Senapati districts participated in the rally, conducted as a part of the ongoing recruitment process for women's entry into the Territorial Army.

According to a release issued by the 165 Infantry Bn (Territorial Army ), the recruitment of women candidates comes as part of GoI policy for empowerment of women.

The first phase of the rally was conducted for candidates from Noney, Jiribam, Senapati, Kangpokpi and Tamenglong districts.

The second phase, meant for candidates from Pherzawl, Chandel, Churachandpur and Tengnoupal districts, will be held at Khuga, Churachandpur, on November 25, while the third phase for candidates from Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching, Bishnupur, Ukhrul and Kamjong districts will take place at Tulihal, Imphal on December 4 .

The ongoing rally aims to recruit women soldier GDs from Manipur exclusively into the 165 Infantry Bn (TA) (H&H) Assam, giving young women from the State an opportunity to serve the nation.
