Thoubal, January 17 2026: Book Club Khangabok, Khangabok Library and Dead Poets Society jointly observed the 83rd birth anniversary of novelist and writer Pacha Meetei, the first Sahitya Akademi Award recipient for Manipuri literature.

The ceremony was held at the residence of Laishram Lenin at Khangabok Makha Leikai.

At the event, two young scholars of Manipuri literature, namely, Khundrakpam Henjushana Singh and Laishram Arjun Meitei spoke at length on the topics "Pacha Meetei: Life and Works" and "Pacha Meetei's Sahitya Akademi Award winning novel Imphal Amasung Magi Eshing Nungshitki Phibam" respectively.

The gathering shared their personal experiences after reading Pacha Meetei's works and pored over research works on the pioneer in Manipuri literature.

As a way of honouring Pacha Meetei, the gathering urged people to read and discuss his works which will enable them to view society with a critical lens.
