Myanmar refugees in Maring area: RAMO

On receiving reliable information of the presence of large number of refugees from Myanmar in Maring areas of Tengnoupal district, Rilram Area Maring Organisation (RAMO) visited villages near Border Pillar 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88 and 89 and found many Myanmarese settling.
According to RAMO, the team visited Chanringphai, Choktong, N Satang, and Sangtong villages under Lamlong Khunou circle after receiving reports from the chiefs of the villages that they are unable to control the refugees.
As such, when the team reached the location, they found the refugees settling in areas covered by Border Pillars 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88 and 89 .
The refugees were found moving to and fro the Indo-Myanmar border late into the night, RAMO maintained, adding that an Assam Rifles post is near the border.
Thus, RAMO appealed to Naga apex body, UNC and ANSAM to look into the matter at the earliest.
