Imphal, October 15 2026:
The Cine Writer & Playwrights Forum Manipur (CWPFM) has directed all members to strictly adhere to its rules and give the main characters their films names appropriate to respective local communities.
The main characters of a film must be given names appropriate to their respective local communities.
For instance, Meitei characters should be given Meitei names, while characters belonging to tribal communities, the Muslim community, and other outside communities should be given names appropriate to their respective identities, it said in a statement.
As per the existing rules and regulations, Manipuri films should primarily have their titles in Meiteilon.
These rules have been in force since June 2015 and must be followed without exception.
Failure to comply with the rules and regulations will result in the non-issuance of a Clearance Certificate to the concerned writer, it added.
