Covid claims two more, infects 236

Imphal, September 15 2021: As the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic lingers in the state; Wednesday reported two fatalities and 236 new positive cases out of 3082 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 7.66 per cent against Tuesday's 6.94 per cent.

Though the overall positivity rate remains in single digit; Ukhrul (13.4 per cent), Kangpokpi (11.9 per cent) and Imphal West (11 per cent) recorded double digit positivity rate.

Though, Tengnoupal, Kamjong and Kakching districts reported single digit the infection rate was above the state's average.

The active caseload rose to 2621 out of which 507 (19.34 per cent) are in home isolation, 866 (33.04 per cent) in CHICs, 790 (30.14 per cent) in CCCs and 458 (17.47 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 92 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 141 are on oxygen support and 32 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS, Hand Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre even though these facilities have 169,12 and 3 patients respectively.

On the other hand, there are no patients on oxygen support in any of the CCCs.

As of Wednesday evening, 601 beds including 106 ICU/HDU beds available in different hospitals.

There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Tuesday evening 2678 beds were available in different Covid Care Centres and 355 beds (24 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 88,297 positive cases and 1443 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month recorded 3764 new cases and 35 fatalities out of which 1563 new cases and 12 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, the 236 new positive cases included 217 people (105 male & 112 female) from among the general population and 19 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

The cases were confirmed at RIMS (11), JNIMS (28) and other testing centres (197).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (35), Imphal West (115), Thoubal (6), Bishnupur (8), Kakching (5), Ukhrul (10), Churachandpur (10), Chandel (4), Senapati (7), Tamenglong (0), Tengnoupal (4), Jiribam (2), Kamjong (6) and Kangpokpi (5).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 2 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information were disclosed by the committee.

Both were from Imphal West and none of them had received Covid vaccine.

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1817 .

In the last 24 hours, 227 persons were discharged from home isolation (71), RIMS (8), JNIMS (5), CCCs (96) and CHICs(47).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,17,697 (general population - 1,13,504 and CAPF personnel - 4,193).Number of recovered cases is 1,13,259.^general population - 1,09,125 and CAPF personnel - 4,134) and number of active cases is 2,621 (general population - 2,567 and CAPF personnel - 54) .

The recovery rate is 96.23 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1209 D-type and 307 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Only 5359 vaccine doses were administered on Tuesday taking the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 12,09,770 which include 3,97,006 fully vaccinated people.

As of Tuesday, 97,098 people eligible for second dose are yet to get the second shot.

In Kakching district, two positive cases were detected out of 76 samples tested.

A resident of Kakching district was found positive during testing at government RAT site and anotherfrom Chandel district found positive at Jivan Hospital, according to DSO Kakching Dr Kesho.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (40,163), Imphal.East (26,044), Thoubal (9254), Churachandpur (9906), Kangpokpi (2695), Tamenglong (3234), Bishnupur (8886), Senapati (2149), Ukhrul (2544), Kakching (6293), Chandel (2225), Noney (1057), Tengnoupal (1026), Jiribam (1014), Kamjong (779) and Pherzawl (428) .

Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (605), Imphal East (429), Thoubal (167), Churachandpur (154), Kangpokpi (56), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (184), Senapati (8), Ukhrul (29), Kakching (110), Chandel (34), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 37,930 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,877 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 4,05,665 tests per million population against the national average of 3,91,071 TPM.

Case fatality rate came down to 1.54 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 3082 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 7.66 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 9.35 per cent.
