LSTB holds 'Thasu Meepham', plans new Puya Study Wing

Imphal, July 14 2026: The Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB) held its monthly 'Loishang Tinna Meepham or Thasu Meepham' on Monday at Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple, Haying Khongbal Uphong Yumpham, Imphal.

Speaking at the meeting, LSTB member secretary Sandham Gandharaj said the Board is considering the formation of a new Puya Loishang to help devotees gain deeper knowledge about the Puya, the sacred scripture of the Meitei community.

The meeting was attended by LSTB vice president Chanam Nabachandra, and heads of 10 Loishangs under the Board, including representatives from Kabui and Maring communities.

Sandham Dhanaraj said the monthly meeting discusses past and future activities of the Loishangs and its priests.

He added that the number of devotees visiting the temple is increasing daily, and various development works are underway, including preparations for the upcoming Langbal Chara Tamba ceremony.

He further stressed the need to preserve language, tradition, script, culture, and cuisine, stating that if we do not protect them, no one else will.

The Board will also work to increase its branches to further propagate Sanamahi Laining, he said.
