8th Mega Basic Fire & Life Safety Training Programme held

Imphal, July 13 2026:
The Directorate of Fire Service, Government of Manipur, organised the 8th Mega Basic Fire and Life Safety Training Programme at the Manipur Fire Service Headquarters, Imphal, on Monday.
A total of 568 participants from across the State took part in the one-day training.
This included 367 teachers, 43 industry employees, 136 doctors and staff from hospitals and health centres, 20 hotel staff and 2 oil depot staff.
Speaking at the event, Director of Manipur Fire Service L Nabachandra said fire accidents cannot be predicted.
The aim of the training was to enhance practical skills on preventive measures to avoid fire incidents, how to use equipment to control fire if it breaks out, and how to protect human lives and property.
He added that fire service experts will create awareness and provide practical demonstrations to help the public respond quickly during emergencies and minimise loss of life and property.
The programme also focused on educating people about precautionary measures to be taken before a fire breaks out.
Dr Kh Robindro, Medical Superintendent, Thoubal District Hospital; Dr Supriya Hawaibam, Medical Director, Eastern Eye Foundation and Research Centre; Ngangbam Gojendro, Principal, Kanan Devi Memorial Higher Secondary School; an Loitongbam Premchandra, Lecturer, Johnstone Higher Secondary School also attended the programme.
