Free remedial coaching centre for minority students opened

'Let the MOBEDS remedial coaching centre bring out students with better performance as compared to those coming out from private coaching centres', Amin Shah, Parliamentary Secretary for MOBC has exhorted during the opening of Imphal centre of six-month free remedial coaching for class XI and XII organized by the Minorities and OBC Economic Development Society (MOBEDS) at Pheija Government Junior High School at Hatta Minuthong here today.
Observing that a number of good students belonging to minority community are lagging behind others as they could not afford to attend reputed private coaching centres, Amin Shah, who graced as chief guest of the function, stated that the coaching centre has been opened by MOBEDS to mitigate the inconveniences face the minority students.
The teachers engaged by the coaching centre are of good quality, he said, while advising the teachers to provide their services efficiently so as to make it a reputed coaching centre.
The remedial coaching was initiated way back in 1992 under the funding from MOBEDS to facilitate the minority students residing in the remote places of the state, he recalled and informed that a centre for providing free coaching to OBCs is also planned to be opened shortly.
Expressing his desire to have remedial coaching centres at every village of Manipur, retired IAS Helim Chowdhry, who presided over the function, said that such coaching centres would help enlighten the downtrodden students in villages with the light of education.
Assistant Project Officer of MOBEDS, Md.Alam Azad, in his keynote address, informed that MOBEDS has opened 12 remedial coaching centres for students of class VI to X and 5 other centres for students of class XI and XII including the one opened today.
He sought the co-operation and support of the people in bringing up newly open coaching centre to the status of a model centre.
Project Director of MOBCEDS Salauddin Khan, Vice president of All Manipur Meitei Pangal Welfare Association Md.Aktar Hussain, Retired MCS Md.Sukur and Head Mistress of Pheija Government Junior High school Latiful Begum also shared the dais of the function.
