Free medical camps conducted, benefit over 660 persons

Imphal, June 13 2026: Two major health and humanitarian outreach programmes were conducted across Imphal East, Imphal West districts today, providing free medical care and relief to over 660 residents and internally displaced persons (IDPs) .

As part of its outreach initiative, the Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, Manipur, in collaboration with the National Foundation for India, New Delhi, organised a one-day Free Medical Camp cum Health Talk at the Community Hall, Kamuching Kulen in Imphal East.

M Meghachandra Meetei, Health Educator, Department of Community Medicine, RIMS, attended as resource person and spoke on cancer, TB, and non-communicable diseases, highlighting preventive measures and lifestyle practices.

Free blood sugar, haemoglobin, and blood group tests were conducted.

Specialists in Gynaecology, Medicine, Physiotherapy, ENT, and Eye provided consultations, and essential medicines were distributed free of cost.

Social activist Sapamcha Kangleipal took part in the camp.

A total of 125 people availed the services.

Separately, responding to the needs of families affected by the ongoing situation, Assam Rifles launched an extensive campaign across the three districts.

The centrepiece was a Mega Medical and Humanitarian Assistance Camp at Lamboikhongnangkhong Relief Camp in Imphal West.

A combined team of 32 civil and military medical professionals provided consultations in general medicine, gynaecology and dental care.

In all, 538 beneficiaries underwent check-ups and received free medicines.

Another 41 received specialised dental treatment.

Household utensils and tiffin services were distributed to families in Lamboikhongnangkhong, Sagoltongba and Sowombung relief camps, while stationery items were given to local youth to support academic continuity.

Awareness on monsoon hygiene and disease prevention was also imparted.

Senior Assam Rifles personnel interacted with displaced families, assuring continued support to alleviate hardships and promote stability.
