CFM pays tribute to Pandit N Khelchandra

Imphal, May 13 2026: The Cultural Forum Manipur (CFM) observed the 101st birth anniversary of Pandit N Khelchandra Singh on Wednesday at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal.

The event was graced by Prof Huirem Bihari, former Convenor, Manipuri Language Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi; and CFM president, Prof Koijam Shantibala as presidium members.

Retired faculty member of Manipur University of Culture, Dr Makhonmani Mongsaba, spoke on 'Pandit N Khelchandra in Manipuri Tradition'.

In his address, Prof Huirem Bihari said there is an urgent need to properly preserve the many works Pandit Khelchandra wrote on various aspects of Manipuri history.

It is fortunate for all of us that Pandit Khelchandra wrote extensively on the history of the land during his lifetime and informed future generations, he said.

He appealed to the coming generation to study Pandit Khelchandra's life and works and create awareness among the public.
