Karing Ngei celebrated with fervour at 2nd INBCA Youth Gospel Olympics

The annual Karing Ngei festival of the Inpui tribe was celebrated with great enthusiasm on Monday as part of the 2nd INBCA Youth Gospel Olympics, drawing a large gathering of people and dignitaries.
The celebration was graced by Janghemlung Panmei, MLA, 53-Tamenglong Assembly Constituency, as the chief guest.
Addressing the congregation, the MLA exhorted the people to look towards the future with hope and confidence, assuring that the hardships and difficulties faced by the people would one day be overcome.
He also highlighted the progress and development that have reached different comers of the land over the years.
The celebration was further graced by Timikha Koza, president of the Tenyimi People's Organisation (TPO) along with Mteisuding Heraang, president of the Naga Students' Federation (NSF), who attended as guests of honour.
In their address they reminded the gathering of the importance of preserving and protecting the environment bestowed by God, calling upon the people to keep the mountain tops green and fresh for future generations.
They also appealed to all Nagas to remain united and to live in peace and harmony with one another.
The function was presided over by Merachao Inka, president of the Inpui Naga Union.
Several other distinguished guests, including representatives of the Naga Peoples' Organisation, presidents of various Naga tribes, chairman of Inpui villages, and a large number of people attended and actively participated in the programme.
Adding colour to the celebration, traditional Inpui games such as Gari Tun Takhemnu, Taren Kachak, Taren Kaloi and Bara Ai were showcased during the celebration, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the community.
