Bishnupur, January 13 2025:
The indefinite Yairipok bazar general strike called by the Yairipok Shop Owner's Welfare Association against "rampant" and "unbearable" monetary demands being served by various organisations has been suspended temporarily considering the plight of the people.
The decision to suspend the general strike was taken after a meeting was held at Yairipok bazar.
Speaking to the media persons after the meeting, secretary of the Shop Owner's Welfare Association, Kh Surat stated that the general strike called by the association from 5 am of January 12 was called off considering the plight of the people, especially women vendors of Yairipok keithel and passenger service of Winger, Auto, Iris and Magic associations.
However, if the monetary demands levied by the organisations are not withdrawn in the coming days, it will resort to more stringent form of agitations, said Surat.
The Association also extended its appreciation to the public for supporting the general strike.
