Rare owl species photographed

Two wildlife photographers were able to photograph a rare owl species which was common in the past but had gradually dwindled in population becoming very rare all over the country.
A foreign based wildlife photographer from Nambol Phoijing, Dolly Laishram and Elangbam Premjit from Toubul were able to photograph the rare Eastern Grass Owl (Irak Maku) .
Dolly Laishram who captured the photo of the rare owl, said that this species is an extremely rare species of owl which cannot be found commonly in other parts of the country and added that she was able to capture the photo while he came back to Manipur recently.
On the other hand, Elangbam Premjit said that the particular owl species is found in the North East, mainly Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur.
However, even though the owl is reportedly present in Arunachal Pradesh, no photographs have ever been captured, he added.
He was able to photograph the owl at Yawa Lamjao, Ngaikhong, Moirang and Thanga.
He also claimed that he saved 11 offspring of the said bird after he came across them once.
