Imphal, May 12 2026: The annual meeting of Custom and Traditional Observation Committee was conducted on May 10 at 1 pm at United Youth Club, Lairikyengbam Leikai.

During the meeting, Longjam Indrani was appointed as the president; Haobam Ongbi Sujata as secretary and Y Indira as treasurer while LM Sanna was appointed as the chief advisor of an 8-member Advisory Board.

In a press release, the Committee has announced that August 28 will be observed as The Manipur Independent Record Day for the first time.

Noatbly, on August 28, 1947, Maharaja Bodhchandra Singh hoisted the Pakhangba flag at the Kangla fort and officially declared Manipur's sovereignty.
