Imphal, April 12 2022:
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur president A Sharda has strongly condemned the racist statements made by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) spokesperson and advocate Sanoujam Samachoron against Union Home minister Amit Shah during a live discussion programme on the Imphal based electronic media Impact TV, broadcast on the night of April 9 .
On the stand of the party regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah's announcement of making Hindi language compulsory till Class X in all schools of the northeastern states and for people to communicate with other states only in Hindi, Sharda stated that BJP Manipur Pradesh has always worked in the interest of the people of the state.
As of now, no official directive has been given from the central government regarding the matter of making Hindi language compulsory till Class X .
Thus, even if a central directive is issued, the party will discuss the matter in detail with the various stakeholders and educationists of the state.
However, it must be noted that there is no harm in learning a language.
There is the need for one to understand and be fluent in Hindi.
People are already learning foreign languages and language learning units have been opened for the same.
As such, it is important for one to try to learn every language possible.
So, an appropriate decision would be made in accordance with the directive issued by the centre, she conveyed.
Addressing a press meet held at BJP Manipur Pradesh office, Nityaipat Chuthek here on Tuesday, Sharda stated that BJP strongly condemned the racist and derogatory statements made by MPCC spokesperson Samachoron against the union home minister.
The statements alone prove the type of racism propagated by Congress party.
She continued: "A human cannot be discriminated based on skin colour or the community he/she belongs to.
It is due to such racism that Congress' influence is gradually waning in the country.
BJP has been campaigning for a 'Congress-mukt Bharat' because of such racist and bigoted nature of Congress".
BJP is different from other political parties.
It believes in respecting and treating everyone equally.
Thus, the statements made by Samachoron are uncivilized in every aspect or form, she remarked.
