RIMS observes National Surgeons' Week with tree plantation drive

Imphal, June 11 2026:
As part of National Surgeons' Week (June 9-14, 2026) and ahead of National Surgeons' Day on June 14, the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal organised a Tree Plantation Programme today at the Girls' Hostel, 2nd Campus, RIMS, Imphal.
The programme was conducted in collaboration with the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), Manipur State Chapter.
The event was graced by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS; Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital; and Dr S Ranita Devi, Head, Department of Surgery.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Sunil Kumar said the observance honours surgeons' contributions while reaffirming the medical fraternity's commitment to community welfare and environmental conservation.
"The plantation initiative symbolises growth, healing, and sustainability- values integral to the medical profession", he noted, appreciating ASI Manipur State Chapter and participants.
The drive aimed to promote environmental sustainability and raise awareness on preserving nature alongside advancing healthcare.
Faculty members, surgeons, postgraduate students, ASI Manipur members, and personnel from CRED and MSS actively took part.
The event underscored RIMS and the surgical fraternity's commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility during National Surgeons' Week.
