All PHSCs in hill to be upgraded to CHCs: CM

Imphal, May 11 2012: With a view to give standard health care services to the people, all the Public Health Sub Centres (PHSCs) in the hills will be upgraded to the level of Community Health Centres (CHCs), Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has announced.

He was speaking on the occasion of a reception ceremony hosted in his honour and Minister of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Francis Ngajokpa by the Organising Committee 49-Tadubi A/C at the campus of Don Bosco School, Sangakpham today.

Ibobi expressed confidence that upgradation of all the PHSCs to CHCs in the hill areas would ensure the people to get all the required benefits of a health centre.

Along with the upgradation, there will be two doctors on duty where there were only nurses before.

He also assured that infrastructural requirement in the health centres of hill districts would be developed.

Every hospital would also be provided with a water supply component to provide uninterrupted supply of water.

Moreover, a 5 KV solar power sub-station would be installed in each of the PHSCs to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

Apart from this, building construction for the SDO/BDO and staffs and police station buildings would also taken up in the hill areas.

For the said construction, around Rs 10 crores would be invested for every building construction, he added.

The Chief Minister pointed out that road connectivity in the hills with that of the plains would be seriously looking into construction/repairing of roads to bridge the gap between the people of the hills and the plains.

Minister Fransis Ngajokpa stated that Tadubi A/C under Senapati district can be considered as a mini India since different groups of people including Meiteis, Muslims and Biharis are living together peacefully.

All possible help and development programmes for this mini India will be given and taken up by the state government.

The function was also attended by MLA O Landhoni who is also the wife of Chief Minister O Ibobi.
