500 tree saplings planted across Umang Lai Laibung

Moirang, September 10 2025: With the aim of preserving the ecological balance and safeguarding sacred shrines, the Umang Lai Apunba Kanba Lup (UKAL), in collaboration with HERICOUN, Bishnupur Forest Division and Committee of Laibungs, planted 500 tree saplings across five Umang Lai Laibung under Kumbi Assembly Constituency.

The plantation drive was attended by UKAL Moirang Branch president, H Biramangol Singh; executive members of UKAL Mayai Loishang, N Samananda and Rakesh; HERICOUN president Y Surjitkumar Khuman; Finance Secretary N Birachandra; Secretary Edu & Research Sh Devadutta; Deputy Secretary Office L Bishorjit; Range Forest Officer Moirang H Geetchandra Singh.

Forest staff and other members of the Laibungs also actively participated in the programme.

During the drive, 500 saplings of different species including Nageshore, Leihao, Bokul, U-Thambal, Mana Hei, Haosuk, Tejpatta and Lairik Heibi were planted at the shrines of Ibudhou Nongdum Ikheiren Pakhangba, Ima Laisna Wangoo Naodakhong, Ibudhou Sampaolal Pakhangba, Ibudhou Lolang Leiyon Pakhangba at Wangoo Sabal and Ima Phouoibi Laibung at Laningoubi.
