KHU hosts workshop on 'Future ready youth & employment pathways'

Khongnangthaba University (KHU), Imphal, in collaboration with the VV Giri National Labour Institute (VVGNLI), Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, organised a one-day workshop titled "Building Future-Ready Youth in Manipur: Mapping Skills, Employment and Entrepreneurship Pathways" at the University Auditorium on Wednesday.
Organised by the IQAC and Department of Management the programme addressed the key challenge of helping youth in the Northeast transition from academic degrees to employability, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods amid a rapidly changing job market.
More than 150 students, research scholars, and faculty members attended the workshop, which focused on future skills, career readiness, digital literacy, entrepreneurship, local livelihoods, and youth leadership.
The inaugural session was attended by Prof Naorem Joykumar Singh, Vice-Chancellor, KHU; Dr Otojit Kshetrimayum, Fellow and Coordinator, Centre for North East India, VVGNLI; and Prof N Surjitkumar of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak.

Assistant Registrar, delivered the welcome address, while Dr Laishram Imoba Singh, Assistant Professor, proposed the vote of thanks.
In the technical session, Dr Otojit stressed the need to bridge academic learning with skills, employability, and local resource-based opportunities.
He said future readiness demands digital literacy, communication, adaptability, problem-solving, innovation, and resilience beyond degrees.
The workshop reinforced the University's commitment to student engagement and regional development.
