International Women's Day observed all over

As in other parts of the world, International Women's Day was observed widespread in Manipur today.
The main observance function was held at Kuki Inn under the theme of 'Celebrate the Spirit of Hope and Coverage in the midst of Social Challenges" .
World Vision India hosted the event which was participated by Social Welfare Minister Ak Mirabai as Chief Guest, Associate Director of World Vision India Samuel Therish as President and Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Ram Muivah as Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister AK Mirabai said that many women representatives have been elected in Panchayat following the 33 percent reservation policy for women.
Unfortunately, almost all the women representatives in Panchayat are there in namesake with their duties and powers being handled by their husbands.
Minister AK Mirabai called upon the women representatives in Panchayat to come out from such situation, and said that the status of women would improve only when women themselves handle their own duties and responsibilities.
She further said that women should respect other women and know their miseries and problems.
It is important for mutual cooperation among the women.
Besides, increase in literacy rate and having their own means of earning will alleviate the status of women in the society, she added.
All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMWVA) also observed the day at the conference hall of Imphal Hotel under the theme of 'Violence Against Women'.
On the occasion, journalist Nomita Khongbantabam of Hueiyen Lanpao talked on 'Media's Role in curbing Violence against Women' as a resource person.
Manipur State Commission for Women also observed the day at the DRDA hall at DC Complex, Lamphelpat, Imphal.
Manipur Youth Congress Committee organised an awareness campaign in connection with International Women's Day at Kshetrigao Community Hall.
United NGOs Mission, Manipur observed the day at Lamyanba Shanglen.
Centre for Organisation Research and Education (CORE), Forum for Indigenous Perspective & Action (FIPA), Women in Governance (Wing), Community Network Empowerment (CoNE), All Manipur Nupi Manbi Association (AMANA) and Manipur State Aids Control Society (MACS) jointly organised the International Women's Day at Singjamei Super Market.
Kanglei Chanura Chaokhat Thourang Lamjinglup (KANGLEICHAL) also observed International Women's Day under the theme of 'Rising Violence against Women and judicial system' at JN Dance Academy hall here.
Weakers' Section Committee observed the day under the theme of 'Women in Governance' at Khangshim village in Chandel district.
Women leaders from different parts of Chandel participated in the observation function.
On the occasion, former Project Officer of ICDS, Chandel Nirmala Monsang presented a talk on 'Women and Child Development Work' while former Secretary of Maring Naga Baptist Association R Techa Hongsha talked on 'Household Economy' as resource persons.
Indigenous Women Forum for North East India (IWFNEI) and Naga Women's Union (NWU) jointly observed the International Women's Day under the theme of 'The Gender Agenda: Gaining Momentum' at Tangkhul Baptist Church, Imphal.
Hosted by Imphal Tangkhul Shanao Long (ITSL), the event was attended by women representatives of various tribes & groups including Anal, Chothe, Kuki, Lamkang, Maring, Moyon, Maram, Nepali, Poumai, Rongmei, Tiddim Chin and Tangkhul.
Under the aegis of Red Shield Division, International Women's Day was observed under the theme of 'Women, the agent of change' at Rani Gaidinliu Resource Centre, Happy Colony at Nonei.
The observance was marked by special prayers, song and dance performance.
