14 abductors held in Nagaland

A truck driver from Manipur who has been detained after abduction by suspected Kuki National Front (KNF) activists was rescued during simultaneous raids conducted at two places in Dimapur on Thursday by a combined force of police and IRB personnel, official reports said today.
Fourteen persons including a woman suspected to be Kuki National Front, KNF activists were also rounded up by the combined force during the simultaneous raids the report said adding that ten of them including a lady were arrested from one hideout while remaining four persons were arrested from another place.
Eight mobile handset, one 7.65 pistol loaded with five rounds, a 9mm pistol with eight live rounds and some documents were also recovered from their possession of the nabbed suspects, the report quoting police statement said.
Police alleged that they were part of the same gang, which had earlier abducted three drivers from Manipur transporting FCI items from Dimapur FCI godowns to Imphal.
Even though two of the three drivers were released after reported payment of Rs.8000 to the abductors, the other driver named as one Asem Angou, 51, hailing from Challou under Lamlai police station in Imphal East who was detained for unable to effort the ransom they demanded was rescued by police yesterday, the report said.
The report also identified the fourteen arrested persons as Md.Abdul Subad, Roger Singh, Yaima Singh and wife Melody Mizo, Simon Singh, Shanti Singh, Monatum Singh, Sanjeev Meitei, Chinglen Meitei, Boycha Singh, Piyo Singh, Prem Humar Singh, Momo Kom and Nanao Singh.
Mention may be made that three drivers of the truck transporting FCI goods from Dimapur to Imphal were abducted by the suspected KNF cadres while they were parking their vehicles at Home-pipe located some five kilometer south of the Dimapur main town in the morning of October 26 last month and later released two of them on the next day after taking the money they demanded from the truckers.
