Displaced Mongbung villagers return home

Jiribam, August 07 2024:
In a significant development ever since the recent flare up of violence in Jiribam district, the displaced residents of Mongbung village who were taking refuge at Chingdong Leikai Upper Primary School relief camp returned to their respective homes yesterday.
A total of 133 residents belonging to 48 households of Mongbung village were escorted safely to their respective homes by the security forces under the aegis of Jiribam District Administration.
To facilitate safe return of the residents, Deputy Commissioner Jiribam Krishna Kumar IAS; Senior Superintendent of Police SP M Pradip IPS; 39 AR Commanding Officer Akash Kumar; CRPF officials; Relief camp Nodal Officer M Surjit Singh; ADC Th Manoranjan Singh; SDC M Devananda Singh and other officials were also present at the spot.
Speaking in connection with the positive development, Jiribam DC said that adequate security will be provided for the safety of the residents at their respective villages.
The DC also assured that residents of other villages will also return to their homes at the earliest.
He also called for concerted efforts from all for restoration of peace and harmony in the region.
