PCB Repair & Diagnostic training begins

NIELIT Imphal inaugurated a specialised Training Programme on PCB Repair & Diagnostic for personnel of 14 Base Repair Depot (BRD), Air Force Station, Borjhar, Guwahati, on Monday at the Seminar Hall of NIELIT Imphal, Akampat.
The programme, running from October 5-23, 2026, is aimed at providing specialised technical skills in Printed Circuit Board repair and diagnostic techniques to IAF personnel to strengthen maintenance and operational readiness.
The inaugural function began with registration of trainees followed by a welcome address by Imopishak Thingom, Scientist-E, NIELIT Imphal.
Addressing the gathering, Wing Commander Adhikarimayum Premkumar Sharma, 14 BRD, said it is a significant milestone as 14 BRD is the first Indian Air Force unit to conduct such high-level technical training in Manipur.
He said electronics are critical in military aviation and PCB diagnostic capability will reduce repair turnaround time and promote self-reliance under Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
He also mooted expanding collaboration into a regional hub for electronics skill development in the Northeast.
In his keynote address, Executive Director Dr Yumnam Jayanta Singh welcomed the IAF personnel and highlighted NIELIT Imphal's advanced laboratories.
He spoke on how emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, drones, chip design, AR/VR and automation can complement PCB diagnosis and proposed future training on e-waste management and master trainer development.
The session concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Lourembam Beloni Devi, Assistant Professor, followed by group photograph and laboratory visit.
