Imphal, September 06 2025:
Assam Rifles spearheaded a transformative community welfare initiative at Waikhong Bazar in Kakching District on Saturday.
According to a release issued by the IGAR (South), the programme seamlessly blended a large-scale cleanliness drive with essential pothole repair work, aiming to uplift public health standards, enhance road safety, and foster civic pride among residents.
The initiative witnessed the active participation of Assam Rifles personnel, who joined hands with local stakeholders including Waikhong Bazar shopkeepers, Waikhong Auto Service Drivers, Meira Paibies, teams and staff from Waikhong Police Station.
Throughout the day, troops and community members worked shoulder to shoulder to clean public spaces, remove waste, and promote hygienic practices.
The drive also served as a platform to raise awareness about sustainable waste management and the importance of maintaining public hygiene.
Simultaneously, extensive pothole repair work was undertaken in and around Waikhong Bazar.
The repairs addressed long-standing concerns over road safety, particularly for school children, pedestrians, and transport services.
