Speaking on the occasion, PALEM general secretary Kangjam Rina said PALEM was formed with the objective of building a progressive society and promoting progressive thinking for the welfare of women.

Though Manipuri women are known worldwide for their courage, their condition is deteriorating day by day and this needs serious attention, she said.

Since its inception, PALEM has taken up various programmes for upliftment of women and to empower them economically and has also participated in issues concerning the State, she said, adding that PALEM has survived due to public support.

She appealed to the public to continue supporting PALEM in its future endeavours for women.
