Imphal, May 03 2026: The Thadou Community International called on the people of Manipur to observe May 3 as a day dedicated to peace - "one that firmly rejects violence and renews a collective pledge: never again should the horrors of May 3, 2023 be repeated".

It is deeply concerning that some seek to politicise this day, using it to advance divisive and hate-driven agendas for narrow interests.

Such actions risk reopening wounds and undermining the healing society urgently needs.

The people of Manipur must recognise a hard truth: violence - especially ethnic violence - brings only destruction, deepens inter-generational trauma, and obstructs the path to lasting peace.

It is "our collective responsibility" to reject such forces and work actively to remove them from society, it said.
