Awareness programme on breast cancer held

Thoubal, November 01 2025: In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Shija Hospitals & Research Institute, Langol, Imphal, in collaboration with the Lions Club of Leimarol, organized an awareness programme on breast cancer at the Community Hall of Khongjom Bazar in Thoubal district.

As per a press release, Dr Ajit Lukram, Consultant Surgeon, Shija Breast and Thyroid Clinic, and Clinical Fellow (Breast and Endocrine, Colorectal Surgery) from North Cumbria University Hospital, United Kingdom, served as the resource person at the awareness programme.

He highlighted the importance of early detection, timely intervention, and preventive measures in reducing breast cancer-related mortality, emphasizing regular self-examination and screening as keys to early diagnosis.

Additionally, breast cancer awareness booklets in Manipuri and English were distributed to the participants.

The programme was attended by over 40 individuals, including members of the Lions Club Leimarol/Dr Ajit's patients, and local residents.
