A man identified as RK Sanahanba (37) s/o late RK Sanatomba Singh of Soibam Leikai, Wangkhei Khunou has been sentenced to 20 days of community service (four hours a day) on the charge of stealing aluminium bars from the quarters of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker.
RK Sanahanba was detained by a team of City police station at around 9.30 am on July 29 together with some aluminium bars as he looked suspicious.
On questioning, Sanahanba disclosed that he stole the aluminium bars from the Speaker's quarters.
Altogether 14 aluminium bars were recovered from his possession and their value was estimated to be around Rs 3000 .
Sanahanba was produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West on July 30 for a summary trial.
The Court, after hearing the submission of the APP and on perusal of the case record, convicted RK Sanahanba and sentenced him to community service for a period of 20 days in two shifts (morning and evening) at Khwairamband Ima Keithel.
The Court also directed the convict to relocate/retum the stolen items at the original place/owner under the supervision of the Investigation Officer of City police station.
