NCDC Regional Awards for Cooperative Excellence and Merit 2025 distributed

Imphal, December 30 2025:
The distribution of National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) Regional Awards for Cooperative Excellence and Merit-2025 for Primary Cooperative Societies, including Farmers' Producer Organisations (FPOs) of Manipur, was held today at the Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM) Conference Hall, Lamphelpat, Imphal.
The award distribution ceremony comprising of cash awards and certificates was organised by NCDC Regional Office, Guwahati, under the aegis of the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India.
The awards were presented under five different categories.
In the Primary Credit Cooperative Societies (PACS) category, The Heikrujam and Kangmong GP Level MPCS Ltd (Imphal West) received the Excellence Award, while Thongju Part-II GPLMPCS Ltd (Imphal East) won the Merit Award.
In the fishery and beekeeping sector, The Wangoo Laipham Awang Leikai Fish Farming Cooperative Society Ltd (Kakching) was awarded Excellence, and The Sanahee Beekeeping Cooperative Society Ltd (Imphal East) received the Merit Award.
For the dairy sector, The Ima Langnubi Dairy Cooperative Society Ltd (Imphal West) secured the Excellence Award, while The Bishnupur District Milk Cooperative Union Ltd received the Merit Award.
In the women cooperatives category, The Oinam Awang Leikai Women's Development Cooperative Society Ltd (Bishnupur) bagged the Excellence Award, and The Karam Awang Leikai Handloom and Handicrafts Cooperative Society Ltd (Imphal West) received the Merit Award.
Under the FPOs category, The Kakching Progressive Krish-E Farmer Producer Organisation was honoured with the Excellence Award, while The Lamyamba Krish-E Farmer Producer Organisation, both from Kakching district, received the Merit Award.
Speaking on the occasion, W Ibohal, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Manipur expressed disappointment on witnessing the low participation of the cooperative sectors and recalled the difficulties faced during the award selection process.
He pointed out that some award categories had to be left vacant due to non-fulfilment of eligibility criteria and nonsubmission of applications.
The Registrar further encouraged and congratulated all the award-winning societies across different sectors.
W Ibohal also cautioned that his office would adopt a stricter and more proactive approach in the near future against non-performing cooperative societies.
He advised that continued non-performance could even lead to the discontinuation of some societies from their existing status.
Dr Khundrakpam Ramanando, Director, ICM, Imphal; Jeena Potshangbam, Governing Council Member, Tribhuvan Sahkari University (TSU); and Kh Tarun Kumar, District Cooperative Officer (DCO), Imphal West, were on the dais as presidium members of the function.
Officials and staff of the office of Registrar of Cooperative Society (RCS), ICM and members from various societies attended the award distribution ceremony.
