The home department has issued a public appeal urging citizens and institutions to maintain normal operations amid planned public rallies organised by the Zomi Students' Federation (ZSF) and the Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) on Saturday.
The appeal was issued by commissioner (home) N Ashok Kumar in response to declarations calling for the shutdown of businesses, government offices, and private institutions in connection with the rallies.
According to the notice, the ZSF and KSO have urged for mass participation, including closure of institutions during the rally.
In response, the government instructed authorities to im plement preventive measures and maintain a robust response mechanism to ensure law and order across the state.
The government also expressed concern that such raDies and shutdowns could exacerbate the current law and order situation, which is already precarious.
The public appeal emphasised that any actions that threaten to disrupt public order will be taken seriously.
It appealed to the public, including public functionaries, to keep all business establishments, government offices, and private institutions open and functioning normally.
Additionally, all heads of central and state government institutions are also asked to ensure that their institutions remain operational during the rally.
The government has warned that anyone found provoking or participating in activities that could create law and order disturbances will face legal action under the relevant provisions of the law.
