Diabetes detection & control camp begins

Imphal, November 29 2025:
A 2-Day Diabetes Detection & Control Camp commenced today at SAYON Complex, Chingamakha Maisnam Mandop.
The camp was jointly organised by SAYON and Lions Club of Imphal.
On the first day, diabetes screening for locals was done.
Individuals who were found to be diabetic or pre-diabetic will be examined by renowned doctors tomorrow.
Free medicines will also be provided.
As per the organisers, diabetes has become a global epidemic that touches every comer of the world and is expected to affect 700 million people by the year 2045 .
The camp was conducted in view of this alarming situation.
Also, as diabetes is one of the 8 focussed projects of Lions International and November is the Diabetes month for District 322D, the Lions Club of Imphal took the initiative to organise the camp in collaboration with SAYON.
Cecil Diagnostic Center, RIMS Road provided technical support while the Centre of Medical & Sales Representative (CRU) and Medical & Sales Representatives' Association of Manipur provided medicines for the diabetic patients.
Moreover, an eye-screening camp was also held with the support of Lions Eye Hospital as part of the year-long commemoration of 100 years of 'Knights of the Blind' speech delivered by Helen Keller during Lions Convention at Ohio, USA in 1925 .
