Imphal, December 28 2025: A "Birth Centenary Seminar on Life and Works of Elangbam Sonamani Singh" was successfully conducted today at the DIPR auditorium in Nityaipat Chuthek, Keishampat.

The seminar was organised by the Sahitya Akademi in collaboration with Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Imphal, to honor, commemorate, and analyze the life, works, and legacy of renowned writer Late Elangbam Sonamani Singh who played a major role in the development of Manipuri language and literature.

The inaugural session was graced by Kshetrabasi Naik, assistant editor, Sahitya Akademi, Kolkata; Rajen Toijamba, convenor, Manipuri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi; L Joychandra Singh, president, Manipur Sahitya Parishad, Imphal; and L Rameshwor Singh, joint secretary, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Imphal as presidium members.

The seminar featured two sessions, chaired by Th Ibohanbi Singh and Ng Iboton Singh.

During the sessions, papers were presented by E Priyobrata Singh, Santibala, Y Kunjabihari Singh, M Priyobrata Singh and W Kumari Chanu.

The seminar fostered deeper understanding and appreciation of Late Elangbam Sonamani Singh contributions through academic discussions and presentations.
