Media Workshop concludes

Imphal, October 28 2024: The 2-Days Media Workshop organised by the Khelen Thokchom Trust (KTT) in connection with the 64th birth anniversary celebration of Late Khelen Thokchom concluded today at Loktak Hall, Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul.

The Media Workshop was conducted with the support of MCPCR and Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) .

The second day of the workshop was held on the topic, "Legal Reporting".

It was moderated by KTT advisor Irengbam Arun.

Rupachandra Yumnam, Edi-tor-in-Chief of Impact TV and secretary of Editors' Guild Manipur (EGM), and Advocate Hijam Chandrakumar also attended the workshop as resource persons.

Speaking on the occasion, Y Rupachandra expressed concern over the Sequent cases of media intimidation by law enforcement agencies.

He elaborated on challenges and issues faced by media professionals, who are often held accountable for circumstances beyond their control.

Y Rupachandra also shared that the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) and the EGM have set up a "Media Legal Assistance Fund" to aid journalists and media persons facing legal challenges related to their works.

Advocate Hijam Chandrakumar spoke on ethical and responsible reporting of Court matters.

He also answered various questions raised by the participants.
