MSF, Forest Dept to launch plantation drive under 'Shanghallasi Manipur'

Imphal, May 28 2026: As part of its environment-friendly campaign "Shanghallasi Manipur", the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), in collaboration with the Central Forest Division, Forest Department, will organise a large-scale tree plantation drive at Heibok-Ching, Langthabal on June 1.The campaign, themed "Taibang Thawai Sing Kannaba Maru Kokthoklaba Chingmai Sing Eshang-Shanghallasi", aims to highlight the vital role of hills in sustaining life.

In a statement, MSF said that while earlier generations protected forests as their lifeline, today, despite strict laws, forest destruction continues.

"Killing a forest is killing our future.

Such acts are suicidal", it said.

The federation appealed to students, CSOs, and the public to join hands, stating that protecting the environment is not the duty of a few but a collective responsibility of all.
