Dr Chinglen, Krishnamohon named for literary awards

Imphal, April 28 2026: The Naharol Sahitya Premee Samiti, Imphal has named Dr Chinglen Maisnam for the Ashangbam Minaketan Columnist Award 2026.In a press note today, the Samiti said Dr Chinglen was chosen for his exceptional contributions to literature and his insightfill columns that have made a significant impact on the local media landscape.

The biennial award honours the legacy of late poet and literary figure Ashangbam Minaketan.

It carries a cash prize, citation, and a traditional shawl.

The award will be presented on May 2 at the 120th birth anniversary celebrations of Ashangbam Minaketan at Dr Kamal Literary Complex, Langthabal.

Separately, the Sahitya Thoupang Lup (Sathoulup) announced that veteran journalist Nepram Krishnamohon Singh will receive the Thiyam Premkumar Award 2026 .

The award recognises Krishnamohon's significant contributions to journalism.

It will be presented on World Press Day, May 3, 2026, at the Manipur Press Club.

The honour includes a cash prize, citation, and a traditional shawl.

The ceremony will also feature a poetry recitation session chaired by Chongtham Ongbi Subadani Devi, president of Leikol.
