Kakching Khunnou College to be upgraded: Minister Okendro

Imphal, July 27 2013 : Education Minister Moirangthemn Okendro and MLA K Ranjit of Sugnu A/C inspected the condition of schools and colleges under Sugnu A/C today.

During the inspection which started off early this morning, Minister M Okendro assured that the required infrastructures would be developed along with the filling up of the required teachers in the schools and colleges of Sugnu A/C .

A function was also organized in honour of the visiting Minister and MLA by the governing body and students of Kakching Khunnou College at the hall of the college.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister M OKendro stated that considering the importance of Kakching Khunnou College in the area, the State Government is trying to develop the college to the maximum.

The Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) is likely to be implemented in the State as the approval for its implementation has been given by the Central Government.

With its implementation, some of the colleges in the State including Kakching Khunnou College are likely to be upgraded into full-fledged colleges.

He further informed that the DPC for filling up the vacant post of a regular Principal in Kakching Khunnou College will be conducted very soon.

The service protection of the part time lecturers, who are playing a major role in imparting education to students, will also be provided and their due salaries will be cleared at the earliest.

He also stated that the State Government is also considering to increase the retirement age of teachers in aided colleges from 62 to 65 years and announced that a sum of Rs 10 lakhs would be sanctioned to develop the infrastructures of Sugnu Higher Secondary School where students from all sections of the society are getting enrolled.

The required teachers of the school will also be appointed within August next.

MLA K Ranjit, who was also present on the occasion, appealed to all the concerned to cooperate with one another in trying to develop Kakching Khunnou College and bring it up at par with colleges in Imphal as well as other parts of the country.
