'Nungshitombi' staged at Rupmahal

Imphal, September 25 2026: On the conclusion of its two-month workshop organised under the CMAT scheme of the Department of Art and Culture, Khenjonglang staged its play "Nungshitombi" this evening at Rupmahal Theatre.

BT Road, Imphal.

The event was graced by Joint Director Art and Culture Mrinashree Mairembam, Saathek Sindam Shang president Nongthombam Amusana Devi and Sangeet Bhushan Awardee Irungbam Padmabati as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrinashree Mairembam said CMAT forms will be available from September 29 and appealed to performing arts groups and NGOs who availed grants earlier to submit UC in time.

She said Khenjonglang led by NSD graduate Dr Sanabam Thanileima is doing commendable work in theatre nationally and internationally, especially for women empowerment, and assured departmental support.

The play, directed by Heikrujam Mangelima and written by Nandakumar Moirangthem, revolves around a young girl 'Nungshitombi' from Karang islet in Bishnupur district who works as domestic helper in Imphal before returning to her parents.
