CAU charts future of Agri education, research for NE at Selesih Conclave

The 15th Research Council Meeting.
11th Extension Education Council Meeting, and 33rd Academic Council Meeting ofCentral Agricultural University, Imphal, were held from June 22 to 24, 2026, at the College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Selesih, Mizoram.
General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (retired), Governor of Mizoram, inaugurated the joint session on June 22 after visiting an exhibition of technologies and innovations developed by CAU and its constituent colleges.
The inaugural programme featured a welcome by Vice-Chancellor Dr Anupam Mishra, transfer of technology to PRIME Meghalaya by the College of Community Science, Tura, release of university publications and Comilla Cotton Meditech products, and distribution of lavender seeds to farmers.
The Governor lauded CAU's role in advancing agricultural education, research, and extension in the North East.
Technical sessions saw Research Team Leaders present progress on the 14th RCM recommendations, 2025-26 achievements, and 2026-27 plans across crop sciences, horticulture, fisheries, veterinary, and natural forming.
KVK heads reported on Chemical-Fjee Villages and extension initiatives.
The 33rd Academic Council, chaired by Dr Mishra on June 23, deliberated on curriculum, academic regulations, research, and student welfare, approving several proposals to enhance quality in agricultural education.
On June 24, Deans of all 13 constituent colleges presented action taken reports and future plans, including Satellite Village and Chemical-Free Village initiatives.
The valedictory session featured suggestions from external experts including Prof Pravat Kumar Roul, Dr KM Bujarbaruah, and Dr P Das.
The meetings drew wide participation from eminent academicians, scientists, and administrators, strengthening CAU's roadmap for research, education, and extension in the region.
